C-Scheme Free contraception
Whatever your age, gender, or sexual orientation you can get free contraception with your Union of Students’ advice service
If you’re aged 18–24 then you’re entitled to free condoms, dams, and lube with the C-Scheme. Or if you’re over 24, your Union can provide free condoms.
What is the C-Scheme?
The C-Scheme is a scheme offered by the Union Advice Service in conjunction with the NHS. It provides anyone aged between 16-24 with access to free contraception and lube.
What if I’m over 24?
Don’t worry! If you’re over 24, your Union can provide you with free condoms.
How can I register to the C-Scheme?
It’s easy to register and after completing the form, you can collect from all over Derby. To sign up, you can either call into the Union offices and speak with an advisor. You can also sign up online by following the QR code on the front of this flyer.
What happens next?
If you sign up in person, you will be given a C-Scheme card and condoms there and then. If you sign up online, a member of the Union Advice team will email you when your card and condoms are ready for collection. You will then be able to collect these from our info point at our Kedleston Road offices (they’re underneath Blends).
What about collecting?
Once you have your C-Scheme card, you can collect from the Union by either dropping in at our info point and seeing an advisor. Alternatively, you can email us at advice@derbyunion.co.uk to arrange a collection for a day you will be on the Kedleston Road site. Check out the NHS’ C-Scheme website for updates on collection sites around the city
What if I’ve had sex without contraception?
Don’t worry, there’s plenty of support available. We would recommend that you have an STI screening if you’ve had sex without using contraception. You can either visit a sexual health clinic or get an online test posted straight to your address.
To find your nearest sexual health clinic if you need that extra support or want to chat things through, visit the clinic finder website.
To request an online test, visit the sh24 website. Please note there are some geographical restrictions, but visit the site for more details.
Need to talk to someone further?
If you have any questions or concerns about the C-Scheme, your sexual health or anything else, you can contact the Union Advice Service.
