    Markeaton Street and Britannia mill - microwaves

    Hi all, I'm the part time officer for electronics computing and maths. I mostly have lectures in both Markeaton street and Britannia mill campuses and what I've noticed is that the cantines and shops close at around 5pm, some students stay later and have to bring their own food; however they can't heat it up.

8:56pm on 23 Oct 18 Many of us just rather bring our own food to heat up even when the canteen/shop is open instead of surviving off of sandwiches or pay for overpriced food. This has been a common complaint in my cohort, and based on lecturer's comments, previous cohorts have had the same issue. PLEASE VOTE UP!

9:18pm on 23 Oct 18 A microwave would be most welcome so we can heat up our own food we bring in (due to poor choice, unless you love carbs, and high prices)

9:25pm on 23 Oct 18 I have been asking for a microwave at Britannia mill since my undergrad days in 2012! I have to keep my costs down, I will still make purchases from the canteen and shop as I'm sure others will to, but I bring my own lunches, and now that it's getting cold, I want to bring in stews, soups, etc that I've made at home. I'm a postgraduate now by the way, a single parent too, my costs to do the course are high enough already without adding snacks and lunches into the equation. £2.20 for a plain cheese sandwich at uni or homemade soup and sandwich at a total cost of 90p, do the math!

6:26am on 25 Oct 18 I am not at those campuses, but we have one on it's way to OFGS. All sites should have one. And water - even our cold water fountain is perpetually broken.

9:16pm on 6 Nov 18 Need this very much at Brit Mill. There is or was one at the workshop in Markeaton st. But I think it should be close to the tables in the dinning area/food shopping area.

9:27pm on 6 Nov 18 Deffinatly need this! i try and work on certain days after lectures and being out in the cold most days takes its toll as well a pasty costing £2.30 its crazy and having a microwave to reheat stews ect would be an awesome addition

6pm on 3 Dec 18 Can I ask what came of the discussion mentioned on the 19th? I didn't know about this until now and many students in my program are also interested in a microwave at Britannia Mill.
