When submitting Assignments via Blackboard, you trust that when you click on the submit button it is being sent properly. This leads to Anxiety when the submission takes longer than 15 minutes. The proposed change would be to include a progress bar that shows estimated time for uploads and how far it has been uploaded. This would ease tension caused by the current system and also provide a way to notify lecturers if there is a delay (for example, slow internet).

But that's the thing! You shouldn't trust the submit button! We were told that its safe to assume that the final minutes leading up to the deadline of an assignment are going to be pretty touch and go regarding your submission going through reliably. As such, I'd say the best solution to this problem is to never leave submissions till the last minute (Though easier said than done!). Also, I think most assignments explicitly say that any submission woes that arise as a result of technology not working as it should are not valid. In the interests of fairness, I can't see this rule being changed for students, even with these issues being evidenced with a screenshot showing the network busy one minute prior to the deadline (which is kind of a given anyway).
