    Disposable coffee cup charge

    The UK throw away 2.5 billion disposable cups a year, we as a university can help reduce this number by adding a 25p charge to anyone using a disposable cup. This will encourage people to bring their own reusable cups and help the environment (and save 10p from Starbucks etc).

11:39am on 1 Mar 19 Hi! At Blends, we already offer those who come with a reusable cup a 10p discount on their drink. It's also something already on the agenda with the Universities services, so hopefully we can get this everywhere. 5pm on 15 Apr 19 It's been shown that most people are generally more motivated by losing something (i.e. paying 25p for a disposable cup) than they are by gaining a similar quantity (saving 10p). I agree with the original poster that the university is not currently doing enough and adding a small charge is appropriate. Glad to see it's on the agenda with Uni services, and look forward to hearing how that progresses!
