    Markeaton Street - Open a Blends

    Having a dedicated Union space in Markeaton is desperately needed and by having a Blends, this means you can have somewhere comfortable to meet, eat and drink.

2:32pm on 1 Jul 19 The Union definitely needs to have more of a presence at Markeaton, and I believe this has been brought to the Union's attention on multiple occasions throughout the year. I believe the reasons for this were due to a lack of space and that the Union were turfed out by the Uni who said they needed the old Union space, who then went on to just completely abandon the idea leaving an empty office next to the Markeaton shop. I don't think another coffee shop is the answer to this (I think the Aramak at MS serves it's purpose). I think the Union needs to start organising more events, forums and some form of permanent or temporary base over there in order to start engaging with students at MS more. Saying that, I think students need to start engaging more with the Union too in order for them to justify setting up. I went to one of the forums they hosted at MS and there were only a handful of students there.
