Students on (18/06/19) were informed that Princess Alice Court would not be open for the coming year. Those that had already accepted accommodation there were told that they had been transferred to Sir Peter Hilton Court. The reason for this: "PAC no longer met health and safety requirements" in reality, the university opened up too many halls for them to fill and so to cut costs, are closing one hall to fix their mistakes. Not only is this in breach of the contracts, the contracts that...

the university themselves would try their hardest to prevent the students from changing. It also demonstrates A transparent lack of care for their students and their lives. Changing their plans, accommodation and expectations for the coming year with no notice whatsoever. This action shows the inhumane and unconcerned approach the university has taken in order to maintain their profit margins.

What I want is a profound issue of apology from the university. To re-open Princess Alice Court, regardless of how many students they can fill inside it. Universities should not and not ever, be run for profit, if it runs at a loss, that is the cost of education. The cost should never come at the students, the university claims it serves towards.

Have you taken in to consideration that they might've actually found an issue over the summer that PAC is actually unsafe. Granted you may be annoyed but I highly doubt they would close an entire halls of resdience due to a few rooms being unfilled, especially seeing as if they filled just one block of it they'd cover the running costs of said hall. If you have any issues speak to student living.

Since A level results according to the university there has been an uptake in students applying to halls and so Princess Alice Court has now been reopened. Those who have been moved from PAC in the interim period can reserve their old rooms but priority goes to the new students from clearing. This is all direct from student living btw

Can state with absolute certainty that PAC is a health and safety risk. It's something I had to deal with when I lived there, and was moved out due to it. It's a good thing it's closed.
