    Morning Buses

    In the mornings, the number 6 bus turns into a 6x as soon as it reaches Kedleston road so that it can go back to the train station without making any stops. It would be nice if at least one of the many number 6 buses made stops before 9 am so that law students that live that way could catch it to Agard street (Friar Gate Campus) for their 9am lecture. This wouldn't mean any extra expense on new/more buses. Just having one of the already running no 6 making stops before 9am like it does normally.

In September 2017, the University took the decision to make the service free to use for students and staff on the production of a valid ID card (before this the cost was a minimum of 1.10 per trip). As a result the number of Uni bus passengers grew significantly! This is a fantastic success for the University and for the service, but means that the service needs to be reviewed and looked at constantly. The free uni bus has been a very positive move, but it is recognised that this means there are significant expectations on what the service is able to provide. the estates team alongside the union in regular estates meetings address any suggestions fairly and clearly as we can, so student and staff both get the best service the university can offer but with this understanding that this will not always meet everyone's needs. On a side note, i will be writing an article on some facts students might not know about the Uni buss system and the history of it all. This will be published on our union website and an illustrative timeline will be designed and shared through our social media channels. We will continue to update you on any progress made in relation to your idea!
