Student Parking - Outside of Teaching Weeks

Students with the 5 day Markeaton Park parking permit are instructed that outside of teaching weeks, they must park at Kedleston Road rather than in Markeaton Park - presumably to ensure ample parking for people using the park. However, I was told today that KR car park was full and that I would have to pay in Markeaton Park car park. I argue that having paid for the permit, students should not be forced to pay during the exam period and that the permits should be extended to cover exam weeks.

The lack of coverage during exam peroids is counter productive as I'd argue that is the most important peroid of time for a student to be regularly attending as it can be much easier to be more productive on campus with less active distractions. Furthermore, it adds unnecessary stress to an already stressful situation by requiring the student to arrive early and ensure they have accurate change for the machines.

I agree and also to cover each course's teaching weeks as they do not all start and finish at the same time. Mine this year finishes halfway through June whereas I know others finishing mid-April!
