    Have the Academy bar open and serve food until 8pm

    There are a few students who are stuck with a 5-9 finish. The academy bar, the kitchen, and keddies all stop serving food by 5pm. It's a struggle to eat a big meal, wash up and get to uni on time and I personally struggle eating a big meal early in the day. Subway is the only one open after 5pm, which doesn’t give variety and not much of a warm meal. Here’s what I propose - open up the academy bar or Kitchen for food until 8pm & let students make preorders so they can get the food during break.

11:33am on 15 Aug 17 Hi Shannon. Our commercial services team have been looking into this over the last few weeks to explore the different avenues available. They have had conversations with the University as well as working out our own feasibility of remaining open. With the amount of footfall the Union receives after the hours of 5pm, it would be very difficult for us to operate at a sustainable level. However, from September there should be the opportunity for a hot meal available. Firstly, the University’s catering facility in the Kitchen will be remaining open until 7.30pm each day. Secondly, I am going to be working on getting a microwave in place from the Union for students to have the opportunity to bring in their own food and heat it up should they want a cheaper or healthier option. I completely understand the need for provisions later in the evening and I hope that the possibility to get a hot meal in these ways will help.
