Hi, I’m Lizzie. I’m a current 3rd year health and social care student, in September I will be embarking upon a new adventure as a student Occupational Therapist. I have worked along side the Union of Students for the past three years. My first two years at the University of Derby saw me elected by my cohort as program rep and my third year has seen me in the positions of Allied Health and Social care education counsellor, PTO of mature students, and a founding committee member of the mature student society.

I was elected into the position of PTO mature students in December and began to work on my manifesto points in January. I had lots of things planned in the pipeline but unfortunately due to the current situation around the COVID19 pandemic I have not been able to go ahead with these plans, however, I would love the opportunity to see these through.

So, what would I like to work towards and archive?

  1. I would like to work along side other well-being PTO’s such as PTO Gender & PTO LGBT+ to establish which minority group of students are not accessing university well-being services and union advice services. To develop this, I would like to then work on ways that can make these services more accessible/friendly to these minority groups.
  2. To continue working along side the mature student’s society to plan and run events and socials targeted towards mature student community.
  3. Continue to gain feedback from mature students regarding problems they face while at university and to work with the university and the union of students to help mature student over come these problems.
