Hi, my name is Beth I am currently a first-year Sport and Education Student running for development officer 2022/23. I have played netball since a young age at various levels ranging from school to regionals and currently play for the university's first team. I have also been heavily involved in coaching and umpiring at my local club, gaining both my umpiring C award and level 2 coaching award.
As your development officer, I aim to adapt every session to you whether you wish to compete in a development team, get back into netball after a long time or just like to play socially. I wish to provide opportunities for everyone to compete. As well as re-entering the 5th team into the willows league they are currently in, I think it is extremely important that the 4th team continue to play in Ally’s league, as a tribute to coach Ally.
Furthermore, there will be opportunities for teams to be entered in tournaments against other universities, and even mixed matches which have taken place this season which the girls involved have really enjoyed. For players that wish to, I will help to provide other opportunities beyond playing, such as umpiring to help develop your knowledge and love of the sport further.
Whilst being part of the committee I will make it a priority to communicate with other members of the committee in order to get more recognition for the hard work and achievements the development players achieve. For example, I will communicate with the PR officer to create awareness of teams, training, and matches on social media. I will also work alongside other members such as the president, secretary, and charity officer to organise friendlies and ensure development players have many other opportunities to get involved within the club beyond such as scoring at BUCS games and charity events.
