Hi, I'm Abi, I am a second year Sport and Education student currently in the Women's Volleyball first team and I am also a sport scholar. I am a member of the England Senior Women squad and play for Darkstar Volleyball Club Women's Superleague team.
My aims for the Volleyball Club next year if elected are:
- To hold a series of open recreational sessions aimed at getting more people involved with the club to increase the outreach and widen the reputation of Volleyball at Team Derby. This would increase partcipation for all levels of players from beginners to elite.
- I want to increase the social activity within the club aiming to host weekly events and working together with other clubs to increase our raport amongst the sporting societies. This will be done through fundraising events as well as organised sport socials.
- I aim to increase the link between first and second teams to enable a better club cohesion. I believe it is important that the club as a whole come together and for it not to feel like two separate clubs. I will do this by having more whole club tournaments and fun joint training sessions as well as the social events.
I am currently the secretary at Darkstar Volleyball Club and so have had experience dealing with the organisation and leaderships demands of a club. I feel that I am ready to take that step up to President for the University club.
If selected I will work together alongside the club’s secretary and treasurer to ensuure it will be one of the best years for Team Derby Volleyball Club at all levels.
