Hi I am Asia Drewe and I would like to be the social secretary for women’s hockey. I am currently in my first year of university and studying sport and education.
With the generation today everyone uses social media and I would love to use that to our advantage to promote women’s hockey as much as possible. This would be a great advantage to us as the freshers that start applying look on Instagram at the sporting societies that they would like to join. I would keep the page updated with the latest news and feeds that are going on within women’s hockey. When it comes to socials, I would have it planned at least a week in advance if not more. This would give all members of the society time to plan whilst studying. I have also taken on the role as social secretary this year, so I already have some experience in planning and running the social events. I am also confident and a good communicator, this will help when encouraging others and members to get involved in social events and will help when planning joint socials with other societies. I would also plan other social events outside of the Wednesday socials, this enables those who can not attend the socials to have an opportunity to get involved. I would also work with the welfare officer to plan calmer evenings and events. I am also keen to create fundraisers to raise money for our selected charity, motivating everyone to get involved to raise as much money as possible. I have previous experience regarding the organisation of charity fundraisers, from when I participated in scouts and volunteered as a leader for beavers.
