Cerys Harbour

Hi, I’m Cerys and i’m currently in my first year studying Criminology. I have been dancing since the age of 2 in a variety of styles, learning more styles as I got older. After not being able to attend dance regularly for around 2 years due to covid, I knew before coming to uni that I wanted to get involved and join the dance team.

When joining the dance team I felt that everyone was very welcoming and that there was a big sense of community. If given the opportunity to be on committee this is something I’d want to make sure was continued next year, and I would love to be able to contribute to helping others settle in and feel comfortable on the team.

I believe I would be good as treasurer for several reasons:

I have always enjoyed and been good at working with numbers. This is why I decided to take further maths at GCSE and A level maths.

During my time at school I was involved in a mini enterprise as well as organising several charity events where I was in charge of keeping track of what money was raised and what was spent.

Having been dancing for over 16 years and doing annual shows where we had to buy new costumes for each style every year, I am very aware of how expensive dance can be. This means that I would try to keep costs down and make it as affordable as possible for people to join the team. I would also be very considerate of anyone who is struggling with costs and make sure to try and find a solution so they can still be involved.

I am also good at budgeting and organising, as well as being trustworthy and reliable. This means that I would be good at making sure to keep on top of any budgets and payments needed.

If elected treasurer I would like to continue the work of this years committee and maintain a sense of community throughout the team, as well as managing costs to ensure the team is accessible to everyone.
