Join us on Monday 26 April for an exciting guest lecture! Star of the Netflix series 'Inside the World's Toughest Prisons', Raphael Rowe, will be joining us to discuss his experience of the Criminal Justice System first-hand, as part of our Student Lecture Series.
Within the School of Law and Social Sciences, global perspectives are an integral part of all our courses - exploring how other countries approach legal, justice and social issues is key to the learning of how we can make positive changes moving forward. We are delighted to have Raphael share his personal experience and views on the Criminal Justice System and prison systems around the world.
Raphael Rowe
Aged 19, Raphael was sentenced to life imprisonment for a murder and robbery he did not commit. After 12 years in prison, the Court of Appeal quashed his wrongful convictions and he was freed. Raphael now uses his experience of incarceration to create hard-hitting documentaries in some of the most dangerous places in the world.
Only with greater knowledge and understanding can real reform take place

This event will be a fascinating watch, and really relevant for students in the School of Law and Social Sciences, but also Journalist and Media students, Forensic Science, Criminal Psychology and more.
