The Chaplaincy and your Union of Students invite you to celebrate one of India’s most vibrant and meaningful festivals—Diwali, the Festival of Lights—on 4th November 2024, from 3.30pm to 5.00pm at Basecamp, Kedleston Road Campus.  Our free event is for both Diwali regulars and for anyone who just wants to find out more. 

Diwali, also known as Deepavali, represents the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. It’s a time when people come together, light up their homes with Diyas (oil lamps), and share moments of joy and community.

At this event, you’ll get to:

🎨 Paint your own Diyas and light them to create a glowing display that symbolizes the inner light we all carry
💡 Learn about the culture and stories behind Diwali in a fun, interactive way
🍬 Enjoy traditional Indian sweets as you celebrate with friends

This is more than just a celebration—it’s a chance to explore a beautiful tradition, meet new people, and share the joy of victory over negativity and ignorance. Let’s come together to create a row of lights that shines brighter when we’re united!
