Minisite Tips
- Keep it simple - don’t overload it with lots of unnecessary information as it makes it harder to find the good stuff
- Keep it up to date - show potential members that you’re active and worth joining
- Use headings - there are lots of different heading options to help split up your information
- Link to your social media - you’ll all have lovely, active social media accounts so show potential new members where they can find you (and make this information clear by using headings and the inbuilt buttons)
- Add some pictures - and perhaps a video of your best bits. This isn’t your Instagram, so don’t go overboard, but a highlight reel of the fun you’ve had this year can definitely make people more intrigued. Scored a blinder of a goal, performed to a packed audience or got to lift the Varsity trophy? Make a compilation and whack it on there!
- Find your USP - Why should people join your club or society? You’re asking your members to part with their hard earned cash (or first Student Finance payment…), give them good reason! Some points could be access to training, use of specialist equipment and provision of kit, plus discounted/free transport and social events. Get thinking - what made you join your club or society?
- Societies (sorry sports), make a logo - one of the great things about our societies is that they are all so individual. Having a bright, eye-catching logo reinforces this idea and also means people are more likely to click onto your mini site in the first place. Websites like Canva offer a free tool to create logos (as well as social media posts!) with lots of templates so you don’t need to be the next Picasso to make something great
