We are deeply saddened and distressed by the recent terror marches and racist acts of violence happening across the country. To our students who are feeling anxious or unsafe, we are here for you. Together, with the University of Derby, we are committed to promoting equality and we condemn all forms of violence and hatred.
While marches have not taken place in Derby at this time, we acknowledge that seeing these events take place across the country is unsettling and upsetting for many of our students. We are proud to see the local community of Derby come together in peaceful protests standing up against racism, and hope you feel reassured by this.
If you are feeling worried about travelling to and from campus, the University runs a free Unibus service from the City Centre to all city sites. Just show the driver your Unicard when boarding the U1 or U2. You can find the timetable on the University website.
To help you feel safe whilst on campus, the University of Derby have a free SafeZone app, you just need your unimail email address to sign up.
If you feel unsafe at any time, call 101 for non-emergencies, or call 999 in an emergency. If you require non-urgent support, here’s a list of free support services you can contact.
