It has been an amazing two weeks! Inclusive Sports Fortnight has seen lots of student and staff taking part in para and inclusive sport, which for many is the first time!

As I stated in an earlier article a few months ago, when we first announced Inclusive Sports Fortnight. “Parasports is a major way that we can ensure that students of all abilities have the opportunity to take part in sports. Physical activity is not only good for us all physically but also mentally and socially!” and this has proven to be true. Seeing so many happy faces, with both students and staff wanting to learn more about what parasport has to offer has allowed us to successfully promote the values of the Paralympics, which are courage, determination, inspiration, and equality.

From getting thrashed at Para-Badminton, being way too competitive at boccia, to diving like my life depended on it in Goalball. For me Inclusive Sports Fortnight has (in collaboration with the University Sport & Physical Activities Team) allowed us to create the foundation of what looks to be a highly engaged Parasports program that raises awareness of the difficulty and talent needed to partake in parasports.

I would like to say a massive thank you to all who took part and for those who didn’t… don’t worry, I’ve got plenty planned, so watch this space!
