Take a trip to the LoveSHaC (Love Sexual Health and Consent).
Our Advice service has launched a new campaign to promote the free sexual health and relationship support available to University of Derby students.
Becca Wood, Advice Manager explains the importance of this campaign:
We recognise how important it is to break the stigma around sex and consent. We want to help students to engage in open and honest conversations about what a healthy sexual relationship looks like, whilst also raising awareness of sexual violence and the supportive services available.
The LoveSHaC (Love sexual health and relationships) campaign aims to; educate students on the importance of sexual health and consent, start conversations about what a healthy sexual relationship looks like and break the stigmas surrounding sex and consent, and raise awareness on what support is available for anyone who has experienced sexual violence or is in abusive relationships.
Love |
We love talking about sexual health and consent because it empowers students to make informed decisions in their relationships. |
Sexual Health |
The World Health Organisation defines sexual health as a state of physical, emotional, mental and social well-being in relation to sexuality. It is not merely the absence of disease, dysfunction or infirmity. Sexual health requires a positive and respectful approach to sexuality and sexual relationships, as well as the possibility of having pleasurable and safe sexual experiences, free of coercion, discrimination and violence. |

Consent |
Simply put, consent means giving your permission to someone else. This can be in any sort of interaction with another person, such as during physical or sexual intimacy. |
