A new term of BUCS Sport has started for our Derby teams!
Each team and individual competitor play to win their league or competition, but also for BUCS points. These points feed into an overall table where over 140 other HE institutions are ranked. This season over 400 students in 39 teams will compete in league fixtures across 18 different sports with the aim of continuing the success of previous years.
Most fixtures take place each week on a BUCS Wednesday afternoon. Follow @us_sportscouncil on Instagram for our latest home fixtures and results. This week there are over 10 home fixtures taking place at the sports centre. Are you ready to make some noise? Spread the word about our sports fixtures and come down to support!
University of Derby students also compete in BUCS individual events across a wide range of sports, winning vital points towards the overall BUCS league table. Many of these competitions take place on weekends and the annual BUCS nationals in February hosts five sports, welcoming over 6000 students during the 3 days of competition at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.

Overall, Derby sits 43rd in the overall BUCS table, out of 140 competing institutions with 1188.5 points. This year we are determined to be the best that we can be and move up the table!
