Education Council is a meeting held multiple times throughout the year with your elected student officers for education.
Hello! Tuesday 5th of October saw this year’s first Education Council.
A quick introduction to what this is:
Education Council is a meeting held multiple times throughout the year with your elected student officers for education. Each of the schools/college’s student officers attend and discuss issues that are occurring within their areas. It’s an important feedback loop, allowing myself and Nina Cupric (your VP Education) to take issues up to the higher levels or help your officer team to deal with issues within your school!
Various things were discussed that night regarding the education matters at the University.
Some key points:
Markeaton Street Campus – Feedback received about students struggling with locating rooms
Timetables – Feedback received from various schools
Rep Elections – Elections for course reps are ongoing so contact your programme leader if you like to become a course rep. If you’re already a rep – remember to register so you get support and recognised for your work!
Course Closures – Discussion on the implication of courses closing
Employability – An open discussion raised from another meeting Nina attended regarding employability of students.
All of the Student Officers and Chairs are volunteers who work with the Union, we’d love your feedback. Make sure to follow us on Instagram @educationofficers where we provide updates more frequently!
