International students if you don’t know the BRP is switching to eVisa, please read the below information.
International students if you don’t know the BRP is switching to eVisa, please read the below information.
How to switch to the eVisa
The government have put the process online, so if you have a BRP already, you can create a UKVI account.
A video tutorial is available via this link: How to create a UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account and get access to your eVisa
Visa status change
Your visa status does not change with the new eVisa. The new documentation will be digital instead of the physical version of a BRP.
Applying for a graduate visa
You’ll still need to switch to an eVisa and send the University the share code. Doing so will allow the University to report your completion to UKVI and allow you to apply for the graduate visa.
It’s free to switch over to the eVisa
There’s no fee for switching from the BRP to the new eVisa. And there’s no additional immigration surcharge.
If you receive any communication claiming you need to pay, please talk to the University before taking any action, as this could be a scam.
Keep your information up to date
Make sure any changes to your phone number, email address, name, home and term address, and passport, are up to date on your UKVI account. If you do not have this information up to date, you may encounter some issues with travelling to the UK.
Additionally, make sure to keep your University of Derby account up to date as well.
Deadline for switch over
The deadline for switching from a BRP to an eVisa is the 31st of December 2024.
