Hi, VP (Activities) Gabby here with my three top tips for writing a personal statement for nominating yourself in the Elections!
1. Be Clear, Concise & Student-Focused
- Keep your points easy to understand
- Focus on what students care about – what will you improve or change for them?
- Use bullet points or short paragraphs for readability.
2. Be Realistic & Actionable
- Outline specific, achievable goals rather than vague promises.
- Show how you will implement your ideas (e.g., “I will introduce a funding support scheme for clubs” instead of just “I will improve funding”).
- Balance ambition with feasibility – don’t promise what you can’t deliver.
3. Make It Personal & Engaging
- Share why you’re passionate about the role and what makes you the best candidate.
- Use your experience (e.g., club involvement, committee roles) to show you understand student needs.
- Make it memorable – a catchy slogan or key theme can help your manifesto stand out.
