🛳️ Apprentice experience 🛳️

Recently, myself and Gabriela Gretkowska, VP Activities have been working hard to gather feedback and data on the apprentice experience, recognising that apprentices are a hybrid student body, and harder to reach. To ensure we gathered broad understandings, we utilised multiple channels, including surveys shared through lecturers, induction talks, and interviews. This approach allowed us to capture a broad range of experiences. Through this process, we identified several key takeaways: apprentices generally have a positive educational experience, feel well-supported, and find a manageable balance between work and study. However, areas for improvement emerged, particularly in the communication streams with apprentices, raising awareness of available services, increasing the accessibility and variety of extracurricular offerings, and enhancing the Union’s visibility. This project has been a valuable opportunity to reflect on how we gather student voice, with feedback playing a crucial role in shaping our initiatives and informing ongoing improvements. In addition, the feedback collected was presented at the November Student Voice Committee, ensuring that the student voice is heard by both university executives and Governors, who can take action based on our input to drive meaningful change.
