On Monday 10th February the Union held its annual All Student Meeting, where a series of changes to the Union of Students were voted on by students.
It was great to see so many members taking part in this important process, and we would like to thank everyone who turned out to vote and voice your opinions, either in person, virtually or by using our postal voting system.
The outcome of each vote was as follows:
Proposal 1: Changing SLS to Societies - PASSED
This proposal sought to change Student-Led Services to be classed as societies, and fall under the societies' constitution.
Proposal 2: Scrutiny Panellists – PASSED
This proposal was to allow PAL Leaders to be a Scrutiny Panel panellist.
Proposal 3: NUS Reps – PASSED
This proposal changed the title of NUS Delegate to NUS Rep, and removed the need to elect this position to align with new NUS guidance.
Proposal 4: NUS Referendum – PASSED
This proposal sought to remove the requirement for the Union to hold an annual referendum on the Union’s affiliation to the NUS, but a referendum on this same topic can be called at any time via general referendum channels.
Proposal 5: Elections and Student Officers – PASSED
This proposal made some Elections rules clearer and has temporarily removed some mentions of Student Officers as these roles are likely to change after the Student Voice Review concludes.
Proposal 6: Increase in term length for Trustees – PASSED
This proposal was to increase the length of term that external trustees could serve, from two to three terms.
