Derby US Motorsport Society proudly represents the passion for everything that runs with a motor, so if you are a Formula 1 fan, a MotoGP follower, a drift enthusiast, a kart racer, a motorcycle rider or you just want to make friends with the same passion as yours, then Motorsport Society fits you the best.

This year we plan to do karting socials, organise group rides between motorcyclists, throw motorsport watch parties and participate in one of the biggest rental karting competitions in the UK, the British Universities Karting Championship, where with our most successful season 2 years ago, we placed 5th in the UK in the Clubman class.

New for the 2024/25 academic year, we will be holding a full series of what we call the IDKS (Inter Derby Karting Series), where members and non-members (for a higher price) can come to compete in a series of races throughout the year at a different track each month, to see whos the best!

To participate in the BUKC, you must 1st attend a test session run by the championship organisers, Club100 this will be booked by our team captain Will Day or our president Ben Sanders. This isn't particularly recommended to beginners as the championship uses 125cc 2-stroke karts that can accelerate from 5-60mph in around 3 seconds and are always run on slick tyres regardless of the weather.

Discord Roles

We'll be opening a Discord channel this year and that means everyone can be assigned a role, the current roles are;

Socialite - for those that just want to hang out, come to the race watch along on the weekend and want to come to the karting socials on occasion just for fun.

Racer - A racing enthusiast who wants access to every karting social and placement in the society karting showdown, held once a month with points awarded for fastest lap times (Kinda like Time Attack UK)

Competitor - You're a racing veteran! exclusive Discord channel for information and the chance to make it onto a BUKC test day to race with the best in the country.
