Nursing

What's the Disabled Students Guide?

The Guide was created for Disabled nursing students. However, many of the resources are equally available for and applicable to students without Disabilities, and AHP students!

The Guide aims to improve Disabled nursing students’ access to resources and support throughout their studies, until they are in employment.

To achieve this, the Guide will:

  • Tell you about the support you’re entitled to, within university and on placement.
  • Explain clearly and in depth how you can access that support.
  • Explain the processes and procedures within the university and on placement, so you can prepare and act as you need to.

The term ‘Disability’ is used as an umbrella term to capture long-term physical and mental health conditions, and neurodevelopmental conditions.

(Note - the Guide has been split into two parts due to limitations on file size allowed by the Union website, please email us if you'd like to be sent a full version of the Guide.)
