British Sign Language
Hello and welcome to our mini site page!
We are British Sign Language and we are back under a new committee. Our predecessors were proud to have won The Society of the Year award at the community award in 2018/19 and we hope to follow suit this year.
We've got our first BSL lesson coming up for members, on the 10th of November, 16:30 to 19:00 in N109 (feel free to drop in and out!). Future lessons will be delivered a mix of in person and on Teams.
We have our Chesterfield GIAG coming up on the 26th of October, 16:00 to 17:30, in ST119 (hope to see you there!).
Our weekly Teams practice sessions are now up and running - the dates and times will be sent out in the monthly newsletter (which also includes BSL resources, articles, and information about BSL and Deaf culture!).
Our tutors often bring in members of the Deaf community to communicate with and to practise our skills in context. We are also planning outings and events, like trips to see signed theatre performances and movies centred on BSL. We welcome anyone at any level whether you're looking to work towards qualifications or just to learn about the language and deaf awareness.
