Sikh
The Sikh Society is a religion based society to provide information on the Sikh religion. We will hold a number of events throughout the year that are welcome to everybody to enjoy and participate in. Events will include both talks from special guests and social events to give the opportunity for everyone to get to know each other.
Some of our events from previous years included:
- ‘Langar on Campus’ with help from BOSS (British Organisation of Sikh Students)
- Vaisakhi talk from Basics of Sikhi
- ‘The Sikhs and Compassion’
- ‘Our Brothers’
- A trip to ‘The National Sikh Heritage Centre and Holocaust Museum’
- Bowling social
We welcome people from other nearby universities such as Nottingham, Leicester and Birmingham and Derby locals to come and enjoy our events too. Everyone from any background is welcome to join!
Events/Talks November 2018
There will be a talk about Bandi Shorr Divas (liberation day) on Tuesday 13th November 2018 between 6pm - 8pm in the Multifaith centre. This will be a chance to find out what this historical event was and why Sikhs celebrate it every year. Please do come along with your friends!
There is a Mental health talk on Tuesday 20th November from 6pm - 8pm in the Multifaith centre. Find out about the Sikh perspective on mental health.
