The University of Derby Badminton Club offers the opportunity for all who have a passion for badminton to train and compete.

In addition to competitive teams, the University of Derby Badminton Club also works alongside Team Derby who offer social sessions as part of the 'Just Play' initiative - sutiable for beginners and those that wish to play for fun! Performance Teams
Badminton has been a performance sport for Team Derby since 2012. Performance players recieve elite-level coaching, multiple sessions a week as well as support services including S&C, Sport Psychology and Lifestyle support that enable them to train daily whilst managing their studies.
The University of Derby is one of the top 6 Universities for Badminton in the country. Our Women's compete at the highest level in the British Universities and Colleges Sports leagues (Premier North) and our Men's team compete in Division 1.

- 2023/24 - Gold Medals in Women's Doubles & Mixed Doubles at BUCS Individuals
- 2020/21 - Women's 1sts BUCS Premier League Champions

- 2020-2023 - 9 x BUCS Individual Championship Medalists
Team Derby were also founding members of the National Badminton League (NBL). We were two-time finalists and inaugral champions in 2014/15.

Development Teams
Our Women's and Men's 2nd team have regular training sessions and competitive matches. The Women's team currently compete in the BUCS Midlands Tier 2 Division, and the Men's team compete in the BUCS Midlands Tier 3 Division.

- Trial for our Performance and/or Development teams - Monday 23rd 1-4pm (1-2:30pm: Singles / 2:30-4pm: Doubles)
NOTE: £2 trial fee for singles or doubles trials OR £3 for attendance at both trials

To access the sessions, you will need both the Union Pass (£20) and either a Performance (£160) or Development (£100) membership. The Union Sports Pass is a one-time annual fee of £20 that gives you access to participate within sports at your Union. As a Union Sports member, you receive the following benefits:
- Access to join our Sports Clubs and access training sessions
- You are eligible to compete in BUCS competition
- Able to purchase tickets to the Sports Awards
- Specific Personal Accident Insurance for student sport through Endsleigh, if you are injured as part any club activities - http://www.derbyunion.co.uk/getinvolved/memberresources/
- Access to coaching and officiating bursaries through club application to the Union.
The Union Sports Pass also helps keep our clubs affordable by helping the Union fund training and competition opportunities.
