Netball
Welcome to the University of Derby Netball Page!
We’re an all–inclusive club, so whether you haven’t played since school, train with the England Roses or have never picked up a netball before, there’s a place in UDNC for you! We have won Club of the Year 2016-2018 & Most Charitable 2013-20, 2021-24!
Game Play
We have 2 BUCS teams who all play competitively to represent Team Derby against other universities, but if social netball is more your thing, then we also have a Development Team – for the girls who want to play netball for fun. Our development girls still play in friendlies against other universities, as well as competing in the Willows and Landau Leagues every week, on a Tuesday night! So there are still plenty of opportunities for everyone to get involved in gameplay on some level!

Training
Alternatively, if you fancy joining us just to come to training, then that’s fine too! Our teams train each week at the Sports Centre. Training often consists of drills, fitness and gameplay in a non-competitive atmosphere, so there is something for everyone! It’s a brilliant chance for you to develop your old skills as well as developing new ones! Training is run by our amazing coaches, Ash and Beth for BUCS teams, and this year's development officer, Megan for the development team.
Times
- Morning fitness (day and time tbc)
- S&C (day and time tbc)
Tuesday:
- Development - 4:00 to 5:30pm
- Mixed training - 4:00 to 5:30pm

Socials
At UDNC, we work hard, but play harder! Our social secs run weekly Wednesday socials followed by a night in Popworld. Social themes differ each week so it never gets boring, we also have joint socials with other sports teams regularly, giving our members the chance to get to know even more of Team Derby! At the end of the year, we all then head off on TOUR – guaranteed to be the best week of the year! If drinking isn’t your thing, there is still plenty of fun to be had at socials as well as our sober socials, including bowling, movie nights and games nights.
Events
We host several events throughout the year. Spookabout is our Halloween event, which we co-host with Derby Dance Team. We also run 2 chairty tournaments, where all clubs can get involved, one in the 1st semester and one in the 2nd semester. In the 2nd semester we also have a charity event which last year the girls took part in a skydive! We try our best to do as much fundraising throughout the year, including quizzes and ‘Charioke’,
And if all of that wasn't enough we host 2 meals, one at christmas and one at the end of the year where we deliver our awards, including netball honours which recognises memebers who support the club with everything we do.
